What is the best Internet filter available?
November 29th, 2008 | by admin |I have the Internet at home, and I have IE7 and Firefox installed. In the last couple of months I have had some problems with my brothers and sisters using my computer for the Internet. I leave them unguarded, and this trust that I have in them has proven to be my downfall.
My sister has just opened Internet Explorer and called me to let me know that she is getting pornographic pop-ups. I am also asking how to get rid of IE7 in another question (everyone but me uses that at home) but I want to know what the best way to monitor my family online is. I don’t want to stop them from using my computer, but I may end up doing just that if this continues.

Answer to your 2nd. question, do not get rid of IE, because you might have problems with any updates that Microsoft are issuing, Have a look at Clean Internet, that might solve your other problem or something similar, also make sure that your antivirus are up to date and also your antispyware. Hope this helps. Good luck

If you already don't have an anti-virus software, I suggest you immidiately dowload one or buy one (someplaces do them cheaper). The most popular ones are (but not free):
Norton
http://www.symantec.com/downloads/index.jsp
McAfee
http://www.mcafee.com/
or you can download a free software called AVG which is also popular:
http://free.grisoft.com/
or frww from Avast:
http://www.avast.com/
for these pop-ups, you have probably got spyware or adware which are sometimes very difficult to get rid of, I had this happen to me & I installed Spybot, which didn't get rid of it but I contated their support & they helped me so much with it.
this is their site:
http://www.spybot.info/
be careful that your anti-spyware & anti-adware doesn't clash with your anti-virus, if one has anti-virus, make sure the other doesn't as well as that can crash your PC.
They recommned installing one anti-virus but a few anti-syware as some don't remove all of the spyware, but even so be careful & make sure they're cmpatible (Spybot gives advice about this)
There's one called Spyware Doctor which is highly recommnded by the experts as the best anti-spyware & removes most if not all of them but you have to pay for it.

The anti-spyware I am using now which is free (but I first downloaded the trial 30 day version) which is also good:
http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/download/
(the 1st one on this page)
when it expires, uninstall it from thru your control panel & then install the 2nd one)
This has been my experience but see if there are others who are much more experienced than me & can give you better advice).

In my opinion, the best internet filter is “Clean Internet”. It is a Christian Intenret filtering company. It is almost impossible to bypoass too.
