Father Kills Family and Self Over Personal Economy

Ervin Lupoe, A medical technician fatally shot his wife, five young children and himself Monday after claiming in a note to a TV station that he and his wife both had just been fired. Police urged those facing tough economic times to get help rather than resort to violence.

“So after a horrendous ordeal my wife felt it better to end our lives and why leave our children in someone’s else’s hands, … [my former employer] did not attempt to assist us in the matter, knowing we have no job and 5 children under 8 years with no place to go. So here we are.” So reads the suicide note faxed by Ervin Lupoe to his local TV station and posted on their web site. At the bottom of his type letter scrawled by hand is the cry, “OH LORD MY GOD IS THERE NO HOPE FOR A WIDOWS SON?”

Is this sad end to the lives of these two hospital technicians and their five children the result of a bad economy? Is this one more tragedy the democrats can blame on George Bush or the Republicans can blame on Barak Obama? No, this is not an economic tragedy, it is a moral tragedy.

Only one person is directly responsible for this, Ervin Lupoe, the murderer. You can pretentiously cry out, “Oh Lord is there hope for a widow’s son? But if you really wanted an answer from God, you would hear him say, “The LORD preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down.” Psalms 146:9

If you listen to God, you will hear him say, “Thou shalt not kill.” If you listen to God, he will show you the right way out of or through your troubles. The death of this family is heart wrenching. What can we do to stop more of this kind of thing from happening?

To start with, we cannot blame the economy. We need to get back to God, the God of the Bible. America has banned him from classrooms and courtrooms. We have neglected him in our homes. Now many are left without hope to face the problems of life. Our families need to get back to God.

Why would a father kill himself and his family over financial trouble?  The economy will get worse before it gets better. Please, look to God. He is a real help in trouble.
