Have you ever wondered how it is to actually travel alone? Well, I know because I have been backpacking. I know how it feels to go to a new place and learn something new, and also make new friends. If you don’t know anything about backpacking, read this article because I am going to offer you some tips/reasons.

Firstly, we have to understand what backpacking is. Backpacking is a form of low-cost travel. In other words, backpacking is a way where you can travel around without bringing too much money. But, you have to give up on luxuries like posh hotels and air-con malls.

I am sure some of you may find it difficult to find pals who are willing to travel with you. You may go on your own but that’s the nature of backpacking.

Trust me on this; you won’t be alone for long. Trust me a month of backpacking does not mean a month of loneliness. There are many other like minded people traveling the way you are.

From experience, I think that the easiest and most efficient way to make friends is by taking part in group activities like scuba diving or riding ATVs. If you are staying in a hostel, I am sure there are people around who travel in groups. Why don’t you just ask with a smile if you can join them?

Some people go backpacking because they want to get away from their daily life and people around them. These people will leave behind work, family and friends but this is not necessarily a bad thing.

Well, if you have a serious relationship and you think that you need a break, you should take a time out and go backpacking. Another alternative is to set ground rules before setting off.

Backpacking on your own is not an easy task. The first step is always the hardest. You have to be clear on what you are doing

If you think that you don’t know what you are doing, you should do some research about the countries you are going to before setting off? The other thing you should remember is that you also should learn how to manage you money well. The best suggestion I can give you is that you should take some pointer on managing your money.

Take note, backpacking do bring you to unfamiliar cultures and setting which may shock you. Take it as a learning experience. Afterall, that’s the purpose of backpacking.

If you are thinking that you need more confidence while traveling, carry a guide book with you. It helps if the guide books contain phrases that are commonly used in a country in their language.

The last reason why you should go backpacking is because you will be able to bring a new perspective with you when you get home.

How? You should try to participate in as much activities as you can while you are in another country. And the last tip I can give you is that you should learn as much as you can about the culture of the people in the country.

So, there you have it. All the reasons (or excuses) you need to take a break and go backpacking. What are you waiting for? Start packing!
