Lower Your Golf Score At David L. Baker Golf Course
February 11th, 2009 | by Golf Buddy |Most golfers would like to lower their handicap but have few methods to accomplish that feat. However, the David L. Baker Golf Course, located in the heart of Orange County, is set up to make that happen. The course is a par 62 medium length course that allows golfers to play on tight fairways with plenty of hazards. Not only will a golfer increase his confidence while playing in these conditions but the short par threes will help increase the accuracy of an average golferas short game.
David Baker’s par four holes are relatively short; none are over 320 yards. If you’re a big hitter youall be tempted to take out the Ping or Callaway driver and go for the green. Of course this may be risk not worth taking
This works if you’re accurate but most golfers need to work on their accuracy. So why not take out a five iron, follow it with a wedge and knock in that ten footer for birdie. All the while youall be working your short game.
Your iron followed by iron on the par fours fits the “improve your short game” philosophy that is part of the David L. Baker Golf Course layout. This practice makes perfect approach also applies to the par threes where your ability to get up and down is critical you lowering your score.
Since the short game is where all the scoring happens, Bakeras par threes allow us to get some serious score improvement work done. Since you will usually be using less than a 7 iron into the greens, you are going to have a chance to get up and down frequently.
You’ll be tempted to go for the pin on these shorter par threes. However there are plenty of hazards that will make you think twice. If youare not careful you could easily turn a birdie into bogey or worse.
Hereas where the third chance to lower your score comes in: water and sand trap hazards.
Knowing how to navigate hazards is a skill that quickly can lead to lower scores, and a much more enjoyable time on the course.
David L Baker has no shortage of these hazards, and one can really take advantage of this fact to improve their score and get some much-needed practice in. Watch your score drop as you take advantage of Bakeras natural features to get some practice in and have fun while you do it.
