Groundhog Predicts Six More Weeks of Winter, Al Gore Stays in Hiding
PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. (AP) — The world’s most famous groundhog saw his shadow Monday morning, predicting that this already long winter will last for six more weeks.

Punxsutawney Phil emerged just after dawn in front of an estimated 13,000 witnesses, many dressed in black and gold to celebrate the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Super Bowl victory the night before.
“There’s significant buzz from the Steelers win and quite a few Terrible Towels floating from the crowd,” said Mickey Rowley, deputy secretary for tourism in Pennsylvania.
The annual ritual takes place on Gobbler’s Knob, a tiny hill in Punxsutawney, a borough of about 6,100 residents some 65 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.

Al Gore’s global warming debunked by a ground hog? Punxsutawney Phil or Al Gore, who am I to believe? Consider three factors:
1. Pun Phil has more experience than Al. The Punxsutawney Groundhog Club was around 100 years before the scorching summer of 1988 put heat into the modern global warming myth.
2. Pun Phil’s science is rooted in Germany and Al Gore’s science is rooted in Greece with Plato’s concern for global warming. And we all know the Germans are better scientist than Greeks ³According to German superstition, if a hibernating animal casts a shadow on Feb. 2 - the Christian holiday of
Candlemas - winter will last another six weeks. If no shadow is seen, legend says, spring will come early.
3. Pun Phil makes connects better with my own personal feelings as a fellow mammal. When I step outside of my front door, out of my wonderful, carbon spewing, heated house, I find the air frigid. My nose feels dry. My toes and fingers hurt. As I trudge trough the snow, I wish I could skin Phil and make a better pair of boots. I wish I could mince him and have warm pie on my return home. It short. it is too freezing cold outside for me to listen to Al this winter.
Will Al Gore see his shadow when he comes out of hiding, this ground hog day? I believe Phil! Al, please let America leave a little carbon footprint to prove we have not frozen to death.
