How to stop coughing, i guess due to smoking?

I've been smoking for nearly 20 years now and i suddenly got this awful cough. I keep coughing constantly and it seems no end of it. I keep drink the liquid coughing medicine, water, tea, but still i continue to cough. Is there other effective ways for me to stop coughing? Thanks
I been smoking for 24 years. My father for 50, and my grandparents over 60, and none of us have a constant cough like you described. I'd see a Dr. to find out the real cause.

how about smoking cessation. Go to your practitioner you may be experiencing bronchitis

dont quit smoking directly since you have been smoking from last 20 years try to decrease it. if you smoke 10 a day make it 5 a day
for sometime and try to decrease and stop i hope it will definately work…
or boil lil ginger salt water and drink it warm.
